In some parts of the world, aggressive dogs are not given a chance at rehabilitation. These dogs are tied up and mistreated for a long time.
Many don’t realize that doing so would make the situation worse. A dog will likely become more hostile if they are poorly treated.
One day, a dog rescuer named Takis saved an aggressive dog. This dog was more challenging to deal with than most dogs that Takis had rescued. Fortunately, since it wasn’t the first time he encountered a hostile dog, he was prepared.
The rescuer understood why that dog was so angry. After all, most of its life was spent chained in someone’s yard. Any dog who experienced that would have trust issues towards people. With that in mind, Takis was careful and methodical when handling that dog.
Takis used a glove when attempting to pat the enraged dog. As expected, the dog tried to bite Takis out of confusion. The dog didn’t understand that Takis was there to help it. Eventually, the dog let its guard down and allowed Takis to pat its head.
Takis named the dog Phoenix, a fitting name for an animal that underwent a significant personality change. The rescuer did his best to make Phoenix feel he was its friend. There was no more ounce of anger left in Phoenix’s body by the time Takis was done rehabilitating him.
Phoenix learned to mingle with other dogs and guests visiting the shelter. The dog also started wagging its tail, something that it never did before. Clearly, Phoenix was ready to live a new life in a different home. He deserved an owner that would not tie him up and leave him unattended.
Takis was proud of how much Phoenix had changed. The dog who wanted to bite his hand off now only wanted cuddles. Takis once again proved that a dog’s bad behavior is only the consequence of how they are treated.
