Although thousands of dogs are rescued every year in the country, many of these dogs don’t find their forever homes. It’s usually the old and sick dogs that get left behind while the young and healthy ones get adopted into loving forever homes.
A 19-year-old Black Labrador mix named Annie was surrendered to an animal shelter in Dallas. The people who dropped her off only mentioned that Annie had stopped walking and eating. Under normal circumstances, Annie would have been euthanized.
Thankfully, a woman named Lauren Siler spotted a photo of Annie just as she was about to get on a plane. Seeing her sitting in a kennel with her sweet face did something to her and figured that she might be able to give Annie a good life. After asking her friend and roommate Lisa, they both agreed that they wanted Annie.
With the help of an animal rescue organization called The PAWerful Rescue, Annie was brought to her new forever home. Lauren and Lisa were determined to make Annie as happy as she can possibly be on her final days.
After learning that Annie had only around a month to live, Lauren and Lisa didn’t waste any time thinking about the things that they could do for Annie that would make her happy in her final days. They created a bucket list for Annie and helped her do everything.
Annie loved the activities and the love she was getting from her new moms. After a month passed, Annie was still quite active and showed no signs of slowing down. Lauren and Lisa had more ideas for Annie’s bucket list. Many of Annie’s followers on social media even sent her treats and toys.
Lauren and Lisa are doing such an amazing job to give an old girl the best days on her final days. Annie may not have long to live, but she’s definitely living it up and enjoying her life, thanks to Lauren and Lisa. Here’s a heartwarming video featuring Annie’s story.
