Bali is known for its fantastic surf spots. Surf junkies would make it a point to go there at least once a year just to ride those epic Bali waves. Aside from this, the city is also known for having an abundance of homeless dogs.
Fortunately, the city has plenty of animal clinics and shelters that strive to help as many stray dogs as possible. Unfortunately, while they do an excellent job at looking after these animals, they can’t help everyone. That’s why it means the world to them when people step in and do their part in taking care of homeless animals.
Aaron is among these kindhearted individuals. He was driving around Bali when he caught sight of a hairless dog. The pooch looked so lonely, so Aaron decided to stop and see if he’s okay.
It takes a village
The dog, who probably experienced abuse from humans, would not let Aaron come near him. He looked like he’s been starving for days, but his fear was greater than his need for food. Aaron knew the dog desperately needed medical treatment, so he asked for help from Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA).
When BAWA volunteers arrived at the scene, they knew exactly how to earn the dog’s trust. Once they captured the pooch, they turned him over to Aaron, who then rushed him to the vet for treatment. While at the vet, Aaron discovered that aside from being hungry and dehydrated, the dog also had skin issues and tumors all over his body.
A miracle for Homer
Aaron decided to adopt the dog, whom he now calls Homer, right then and there. As of writing, the pooch is still undergoing treatment. It’s important to note, though, that he finally grew his hair back. He now looks like a giant cotton ball.
