Even the most well-behaved dogs can also be a little mischievous when they’re bored. While some dogs may display destructive behaviors such as chewing shoes and couches, some dogs may develop weird and funny behaviors.
A Pit Bull-Boxer mix named Simon is a great example of a funny dog that developed a weird habit. After he was fostered by a woman named Stephanie, he got a little bored in his new home and tried to find something to do to keep himself occupied. He explored the house and ended up in the bathroom and saw the toilet brush.
Simon got curious and decided that the toilet brush would be a perfect toy that he can play with for hours. Stephanie quickly discovered this unique quirk from Simon when she always came home to find the toilet brush missing and found it somewhere else around the house.
After figuring out that Simon had been stealing the toilet brush, she tried almost everything to discourage Simon from stealing it and playing with it. It came to the point that she needed to hide the toilet brush but it proved to be too inconvenient.
Stephanie thought that fostering Simon would be easy but she soon found out that it was a little more complicated than that. She stated that fostering Simon was like setting off fireworks in her life. Aside from stealing the toilet brush, Simon also climbed onto the kitchen counter and the coffee table to get to random things that made him curious.
Stephanie didn’t think that she would consider adopting Simon. However, the moment he rested his head on her lap and sighed, she knew that Simon was already home. Despite his mischievous behavior, Stephanie knew that it was only a matter of finding something fun for Simon to do.
After trying several activities, Stephanie came across dock diving. She gave it a try with Simon and as soon as he made that first jump into the water, he was hooked. Dock diving is an extreme version of fetch where the owner would throw a dog’s favorite toy into a body of water while the dog waits on a 40-foot platform. While the toy is in the air, the dog would run full speed along the deck and jump in the water to retrieve its toy.
It’s a competitive sport where the dog that jumps the furthest wins. Simon’s pretty good at it and the longest jump he did was 19 feet. For a dog his size, Simon can really fly. After discovering his love for dock diving, Simon got over his obsession with the toilet brush and became a little more well-behaved.
Although Simon can still be a little naughty and impatient at times, his doggie sister, Mabel, keeps him in line. However, Simon did teach Mabel one or two things about having fun and being naughty. Here’s a video featuring Simon’s funny habits and his amazing dock diving skills.
