Having a pet doggo is awesome! They became your furry buddy, and you become their world. This may sound great and all, but there is a drawback to having a pet pooch. That is the separation anxiety they feel every time you leave home. Anyone who has ever had a pet dog understands this problem.
Before you leave home, your pup will be whining or barking as if they are protesting your plan to leave them behind. As dog parents, it breaks our hearts to leave them, but sometimes we have no other choice. For Marc and Kristen Peralta, on the other hand, they found the best solution to their pug’s separation anxiety.
The couple runs a dog shelter for senior dogs called Vintage Pet Rescue, and out of all the doggos that live under their roof, Marc has bonded with Shorty the most. The two were literally inseparable. Every time Mark had to head out for work or any other reason, he would take the pug with him.
However, when Shorty started aging, traveling with Marc started to become a burden for the pup’s body. That’s when the dog dad decided that Shorty should just stay at home. The pup’s heart broke every time his human left without him. Marc’s wife, Kristen tried cuddling Shorty to comfort him, but it didn’t work.
She also tried to trick the pooch with Marc’s shirt, on a pillow, but Shorty was too smart for that old trick. Then Kristen’s mom had a crazy idea. She bought a mannequin from a Halloween shop and put Marc’s clothes on it. She called it Farc, which is short for Fake Marc.
Kristen was shocked at how well it worked! She placed Shorty next to Farc and within half an hour, the pooch was sound asleep. Today, the other senior dogs at their shelter also cuddle up next to Farc, even if Marc is at home.
