Inspiration can truly come from anyone and anything. We often think that only those who are wiser than us give us inspiration and advice. But if we look closely at what young people are doing, we can sometimes learn a thing or two from them. The young may not be wise, but they are pure of heart, and that’s what this world badly needs.
Liberty Miller is perhaps among those whom the older and wiser can learn from. Back in 2016, Liberty celebrated her birthday in the most memorable way. It involved a puppy who was rescued from a puppy mill. He was covered in mange and had problems with his legs.
The pooch was surrendered by a breeder to the Lancaster County SPCA in Pennsylvania, where he was named “Libre.” Upon hearing about the puppy, Liberty decided that she will be declining any gifts for her upcoming birthday. Instead, she would ask her friends and family to make donations so that Libre could survive.
After her birthday party, Liberty handed over $250 to the vets at the Dillsburg Veterinary Center, where Libre was being treated. The vets were so touched by Liberty’s commitment to a puppy she barely even knew, that it moved them to tears.
Dr. Pryor, one of the vets that worked on Libre, shared in an interview that he didn’t know Liberty before Libre went through their doors, but he was very proud of the little girl. Dr. Pryor was so dedicated to saving Libre, that he took the pooch home so that he could provide medical treatment every three hours.
Liberty and Libre’s story had become so popular that the pooch had become some kind of an online celebrity. Groups were even formed on Facebook to protest against the Libre’s breeders. But what’s important is that Libre has now regained his health, and has found his forever family.
