Important Commands
The so-called recall training is always part of free-running training; you practice with your pet that it will return to you on a particular signal or command. Even if your companion is busy doing something, has discovered something exciting, or has sniffed out something exciting, he will come running to you. The command can be a whistle, “Here” or “Come.” However, so that your four-legged friend will be happy to come back to you, you should not call them in this way if something is unpleasant for them. Otherwise, he will feel insecure and lose confidence in you.
It is also vital that your dog does not rush blindly at you when you call him over. Therefore, you should also practice the command “stop” with him so that he stops immediately if, for example, a car drives over the street that he has to cross. Also, “sit” and “place” may be helpful in these situations.
Without A Leash
As soon as you understand that your animal friend trusts you on the towline and listens to you, you can start the free-running training. For this, you can go to a dog training school or visit a dog trainer if you feel insecure or self-doubt about whether you can keep control of your four-legged friends.
