It is the most loved, caring, loyal, smart, and brave breed of dog, all have ever seen. From serving to blind persons to serving in the military. German Shepherds dog has the most deserving breed to talk about today. So let’s get started:
- He can be the second eye of the blinds
You will be surprised to know that German Shepherd dogs are the best of all the breeds of the dogs that are being trained to become the eye of the blinds. In many countries, especially in Europe, and Americans countries this dog is prepared and trained to become the best friend of blind people to guide them all the way. This practice of training dogs was initiated in 1947, during World War 1 by Dorothy Harrison Eustis, an American Dog Trainer. Even the presence of this loving dog always keeps them busy and makes their life easy.
- War assistance to Army, Navy and Air Force
The first use of German Shepherd Dogs first came during WW1 and WW2. The dogs proved to be the game changer for Germans. The dogs served as sentries, messengers, detector and ammunition carriers. They didn’t only serve as the carrier but also provided medical support to wounded shoulders. Now today more than 90 countries use German Shepherds as their military pet. Most of the country has well training centers where dogs are trained to combat any war like situation; the dogs might face it in the near future. During WW2 the Germans again utilized the strengths of GSDs and not only the Germans but the Americans started deploying them in the war. Training of these dogs formally lasts for 8 and 12 weeks and this hard successive training gets the dogs accustomed to military life. In complete world war 2, the military deployed 15 platoons.
- Popularity
The consistent AKC’s annual lost hero of most popular breeds, the popularity of GSD has no limit of sky. The loyalty, courage, confidence, ability to learn and willingness to protect and serve their people and trainer are like no breed could have. During wars, several troops saw the bond and great contributions of these dogs. From that point only, the GSD became the best friend and assistance partner for military persons. One can understand the level of popularity that at some point the prefix name “German” was removed in America. Some soldiers, during World War, took back some German Shepherd Dogs back to home, so that they can be always with them.
