In an abandoned doggy daycare center in Vancouver, authorities found something chilling. A starving dog named Gator laid inside a small kennel, looking completely emaciated and forgotten.
The mystery
Gator was found in a filthy cage with a deceased dog beside him. The living conditions were absolutely horrifying and unsanitary. Authorities were in complete shock and went into a full investigation of the cruelty case.
Despite his situation, Gator was very lovable and social towards the humans trying to help him. Whenever a person tried to pet him, the dog excitedly wagged his tail and showed how cute he was.
Since Gator was in such a bad state, he was brought to the British Columbia SPCA for a vet check-up. The doctors noticed that the dog’s hair was so overgrown and all of his bones showed through.
Recovery road
Gator’s medical expenses were very high but the SPCA wasn’t going to disappoint him. The shelter facility held a fundraising project which reached up to almost fifty thousand dollars. All of the extra funds would go to the other animals that needed immediate surgery.
The vets provided daily medical care for the dog’s malnourishment, abscessed ear, and grade four oral disease. Gator slowly regained his health and was given all the love and attention he needed.
The SPCA posted about Gator’s story on Facebook and a lot of dog lovers were drawn to the dog. Applicants already filed for adoption because of how brave and loving Gator seemed. The facility said that the dog still needed a bit of time to recover before he’d be transferred to a new family.
From being a trapped dog waiting for death’s arrival to having a new purpose in life, Gator has truly shown resiliency. The SPCA can’t wait for more developments in Gator’s story ut they’re sure to stand by him every step of the way.
