One day, a dog went to a South Korean military base camp and began training with the men. She would rise at the morning bugle call and stand at attention with the troops. She would even replicate soldiers’ military discipline by saluting with her paw in an adorable manner.
As a real military dog, she also gave her all during training. She was well-prepared for defense, retiring and advancing as necessary. Soldiers were also noted for moving and working in groups. This dog, identified as a Bernard Collie, enjoyed joining the troops and performed as if it were a sergeant dog.
During lunchtime, she provided soldiers with an energy boost. She would eagerly go up the stairs and wait patiently in front of the cafeteria door. Soldiers contributed a portion of their food to give to her, which was given to her outside of the cafeteria. She liked the cuisine there immensely.
According to the soldiers, everyone was startled to see her the first time she appeared at the military facility. They did not know where she came from, so they waited for her owners to come for her, but no one did. Therefore, they contacted the local animal shelter, which was 10 kilometers away from the camp.
She desperately wanted to be a part of the service, so she escaped the shelter, returned to the camp, and traversed the entire ten-kilometer distance. She became an excellent military dog and learned to be cautious of individuals in civilian attire. She would immediately bark at anyone who attempted to enter the camp without a uniform.
She was also intelligent enough to heed directions such as sit, and wait. A soldier saw that this implied she learned these skills from her owner, so they scanned her for a microchip to know her identification. Unfortunately, she had none, so the troops posted ads about her across the city.
After some time, they discovered that she belonged to a woman in the market and that her family had been searching for her without success. But for the time being, they allowed her to complete her dog service before returning to them.
