Animal control officers discovered an emaciated pit bull curled up in an old, abandoned fruit box. They picked the poor pittie up and gave him to the LifeLine Animal Project rescue group to have him cleaned, examined, and hopefully be given a new home.
Karen and her colleagues decided to name him Plum since he was found curled up in a ball inside a plum box. They shared how badly they wanted to make Plum feel better and let him know he was safe because of how scared and down he was.
Plum’s caretakers knew that the poor guy needed space, so they decided to set up a nice fluffy bed in a crate, placed some treats, and left the door wide open. They hoped that Plum would go inside it on his own and finally leave the plum box where he was discovered.
Plum eventually got out of his box and started staying in his new crate once he realized that he was safe inside of it. He also began exploring the shelter and slightly wagging his tail as soon as he bonded with a few of his caretakers.
Karen said that they wanted Plum to have his happily-ever-after, so they started posting about him on their rescue group’s Facebook page. Plum was swept off his feet and was adopted after a month by his mom, Melonie.
Plum’s first interaction with Melonie was when he came into her house and met her other dog. She initially worried about introducing Plum to her pup because she does not like hanging out with other animals, but her worries disappeared when her furbabies started playing and grooming one another.
Plum eventually transformed into a small, scrawny-looking puppy to a healthy, muscular pit bull after a few months. He now lives like a happy boy with all the stuffed animals he treats as his precious babies and is finally enjoying the life he deserves.
